Hershey Area Playhouse Announces 2016 Season

Hershey Area Playhouse will begin its next season in February 2016 with Godspell 2012. This updated version includes several new songs added to the score, exploring a portion of Jesus’ life, His death, and His followers. There is room for innovation and creativity in Godspell, so every production is unique. We will welcome back Jan McCreary to direct this popular and meaningful musical.

Charley’s Aunt, by Brandon Thompson, is our comedy for the spring. This choice is an energetic and fast-paced farce. Our audiences will laugh until they cry watching this crazy, mixed up fun. Robin Snyder will have a blast directing this oldie but goody!

Our summer musical is South Pacific! A big cast will be required including adults and children. Directors Tracey and Matt Ford will take on this beloved musical with a wonderfully -familiar score and thought-provoking theme.

Our fall 2016 will be determined in a slightly different way this year. A "director's choice" is offered to directors in the area who would like to present the show they would love to direct at the Playhouse. Several directors have stepped up to the plate, ready to reveal and defend the one show they feel will fit best with our 2016 line up and with our stage. The Artistic Committee will consider each proposal and then determine the show for October.

Our final play of 2016 is an old favorite, Miracle on 34th Street. Our audiences will hopefully find out if Santa is real next December. Lois Heagy, an experienced actor and director in Central PA, will join the Playhouse for the first time as our director.

Please enjoy the rest of the 2015 season and now, look forward to next year as well!
