Hershey Area Playhouse Announces Auditions for South Pacific
HERSHEY, Pa., April 25, 2016 – Hershey Area Playhouse announces auditions for its summer musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific, Sunday, May 15 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday, May 16, starting at 6 p.m.
Auditions will take place at the Playhouse, located at the corner of Sand Hill Road and Cherry Drive, Hershey. Roles for three male leads, two female leads, and two children (stage age 6-12) are available in addition to chorus and minor speaking parts. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
Those auditioning are asked to bring a prepared monologue; for those without a monologue, sides will be available at auditions. Auditioners are also asked to come prepared with 32 bars of a song that demonstrates musicality and vocal range using sheet music or a CD of instrumental accompaniment. Those auditioning are asked not to use pop songs for auditions. There will also be a short dance combination taught to determine movement and dance abilities.
The show is being directed by theatre veterans Matt and Tracey Ford, musically directed by Lindy Mack, choreographed by Kelly Strange, and produced by Lisa Greene. Performances will be held July 21-24 and July 28-31 at the Playhouse.
